  34.    INSTALLATION
  35.  
  36.    Registered User Disk
  37.    
  38.    When you register your copy of CodePrint you will receive the latest
  39.    version of CodePrint on disk.
  40.    
  41.    1) Place the CodePrint disk in your floppy drive.
  42.    2) Start Windows if required.
  43.    3) Open the Windows Program Manager and select RUN from the File menu.
  44.    4) Type either a:setup or b:setup (depending on which drive you are
  45.       installing from). Click OK.
  46.    5) Answer the questions when prompted by the installation program.
  47.    6) A CodePrint group will automatically be created.
  48.    
  49.    Downloaded from a BBS or Received from a Disk Vendor
  50.  
  51.    Unzip or copy all the files to the ROOT directory of a floppy disk.
  52.    Then follow the instructions above to install the program.

  54.    If you are an experienced user, you can copy the files listed above
  55.    to a subdirectory on your hard disk. You can then optionally create
  56.    a program group.

  59.    UPGRADE INFORMATION
  60.    
  61.    Please see the on-line help topic "Upgrade Information", for more
  62.    information on upgrading registered copies of CodePrint.

  65.    OVERVIEW
  66.  
  67.    CodePrint is a Windows 3.1 program used for printing ASCII text files
  68.    on any printer supported by Windows. You can easily select one or more
  69.    files to print with control over how the text is formatted on the
  70.    page. You can open and save configurations that allow you to set page
  71.    formatting for the various text files that you normally print. For
  72.    example, if you are a programmer you can save a configuration for
  73.    printing your source code two-up on a page. To save on the amount of
  74.    paper used, CodePrint has a duplex printing option that allows
  75.    printing on both sides of the paper. CodePrint features include:
  76.  
  77.       * Portrait or landscape paper orientation
  78.       * Multiple columns
  79.       * Headers and footers that you define including filename, date
  80.         and page number
  81.       * Change font, style and size
  82.       * Include border and/or column dividers
  83.       * Change left, top, right and bottom margins
  84.       * Change number of spaces used to expand tabs
  85.       * Automatic wrapping of text wider than column
  86.       * Option to print wrap symbol or turn it OFF
  87.       * Option to truncate lines at the right margin
  88.       * Option to include line numbers
  89.       * Open and save page configurations
  90.       * Compatible with Windows 3.1 Drag-and-Drop feature
  91.       * Duplex printing option - print on both sides of the paper
  92.       * Multiple instances of CodePrint allow you to drop files to
  93.         several configurations

  95.    CodePrint is NOT compatible with Windows 3.0 or earlier versions.

  98.    KNOWN PROBLEMS
  99.  
  100.    The following are reported and known problems. In some cases these
  101.    problems may be hardware and/or configuration dependent and may not be
  102.    a problem in all cases. If any apply you should try using CodePrint
  103.    and report any problems you might have.
  104.  
  105.    1) There have been problems reported by some users with an HP Deskjet+
  106.    and Laserjet III printer installed. The following specific problems
  107.    have been reported.
  108.  
  109.       * Floating point error, CodePrint v1.15 with Deskjet+
  110.       * Prints file multiple times using Drag-and-Drop feature,
  111.         CodePrint v1.13, Laserjet IIP and III 
  112.  
  113.    Please note that the problems reported with the HP Laserjet are
  114.    isolated. The program has been tested with a Laserjet III with no
  115.    problems. If you are having a problem please let us know.
  116.    
  117.    If you do have problems using CodePrint, first make sure you have the
  118.    latest printer driver for the installed printer. One place to obtain
  119.    these drivers is from Microsoft Download Service using your modem. This
  120.    is a download service ONLY. The number is (206) 939-6735. If you still
  121.    have problems please contact us.

  123.    2) In searching for information on using the built-in duplexing option
  124.    on HP LaserJet IID and LaserJet IIID printers, I discovered that HP
  125.    recommends not printing on both sides of the paper on their simplex
  126.    printers. In light of this, if you have a simplex HP printer, ie one that
  127.    does not support a built-in duplex printing option, you should NOT use the
  128.    duplex option in CodePrint. If you need additional information you should
  129.    download the file DUPLEX.LJ from the LJ/LJII library (2) in the HPPER
  130.    forum on Compuserve.

  132.    If you have a laser printer other than HP, you may want to test the
  133.    CodePrint duplex printing option. For example, this feature was developed
  134.    using a TI OmniLaser with no problems and very good print quality when
  135.    printing on both sides of the paper.

  137.    A future release of CodePrint will take advantage of the built-in duplex
  138.    feature on the IID and IIID printers and also on the IIISi and 4Si printers
  139.    if you purchased this optional feature.

  142.    FUTURE ENHANCEMENTS
  143.

  145.    have features you want added to CodePrint.

  147.    1) Take advantage of the duplex printing option on the HP LaserJet's
  148.    that support this feature. Not sure of a date at this time.

  151.    SHAREWARE DISTRIBUTION OF CodePrint
  152.  
  153.    You are granted permission to use the shareware version of CodePrint
  154.    for evaluation for a period of 21 days. You can make copies of the
  155.    shareware version and distribute them to anyone as long as all the
  156.    original unmodified files, as listed above, remain together. You are
  157.    prohibited from charging, or requesting donations for any such
  158.    copies. If you are a disk vendor, you should read the file VENDORS.TXT
  159.    for additional information.

  161.    Unregistered use of CodePrint pass the 21-day evaluation period is in
  162.    violation of Federal Copyright Laws.

  164.    CodePrint is not free. This license allows you to use CodePrint for
  165.    evaluation purposes, without charge, for a period of 21 days. If you
  166.    use this software after the 21 day evaluation period a registration
  167.    fee of $20 is required (foreign orders require $5 shipping and
  168.    handling). Payments must be in U.S. dollars drawn on a U.S. bank, and
  169.    should be sent to Micro Software Solutions, PO Box 851504, Richardson,
  170.    TX 75085-1504, USA. Please use the registration/order form REGORDER.FRM.

  172.    latest version of CodePrint on disk.
